I remember a time when the UK charts were full of Italian pop. Black Box, 49ers and Spagna are names that effortlessly spring to mind. There were many more. I might be inclined to nominate Righeira as one of the best europop acts ever. For many years it seemed that Sweden and Italy were the two non-anglophone countries that could be relied upon to turn out a constant secession of high quality pop hits.
So now I'm left with the question 'what ever happened to Italian pop'? Is Eros Ramazzotti really the best they have to offer us these days?

Elisa and Laura Pausini make some good music, but not disco. Eiffel 65 and Alexia did dance-pop in the late 90s, but now all I can think of is In-Grid. Jessica
